We introduce: Gin Bahc

In this exhibition, Gin Bahc omits her name and uses the name of a fictitious, older German artist that she invented. His name is Ernst Baumgartner. This name is a direct translation of her Asian name into German. The character is fictitious, but the source is Gin Bahc herself. In this exhibition, Gin Bahc slips into the role of an Asian maid. No one knows exactly where she comes from – she appears as an unknown young Asian woman. The exhibition is by Ernst Baumgartner, she is working on it on his behalf. Her service results in new, random works of art that cannot be clearly assigned to any one person.

Gin Bahc (*1985, lives and works in Karlsruhe) studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe. Since SS 2022/WS 2023 she has been a lecturer at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and the Hochschule Pforzheim, the HfG Karlsruhe.
