Balmoral 03 x 30 Art Award

In 2025, the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral, located in Bad Ems and forming part of the Kunsthochschule Mainz, celebrates 30 years of existence. Since 1995, then operating under the name of “Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral”, generations of artists have created, sharpened and shared their work in relation with Balmoral. What a joy – we are grateful!

Our association of friends, Balmoral 03 e.V. is an extraordinary group of people, supporting the Artist Residency and its activities. In 2025, they generously help us invite applications for our Balmoral 03 x 30 Art Award.

The Award, uniquely awarded in 2025, honours an artist/artist collective who has/ have been part of the residency programme at the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral in the past 30 years – which means: Having stayed and worked in Bad Ems in the context of a residency which has been awarded by the official Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral Jury.

A Jury Session in May 2025 will define the recipient of the Balmoral 03 x 30 Art Award.

The award consists of the amount of 2500 Euro for the artist, and an exhibition of work/s in the context of the show “03 x Balmoral x 30” which will open at the exhibition space Apollo in Mainz/ Germany, on July 16th, 2025.

Here’s how to apply:Prerequisite

Participation in a residency scholarship since the founding of the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral/ “Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral” in 1995. All years are welcome, as are all art disciplines and techniques.

• If you want to send physical catalogues, you can do so by posting them to
