What is drawing? When and why is an artistic work a drawing? Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral has invited artists from all over the world to explore the diverse formal and conceptual possibilities concerning “drawing today”. Both the field and remit of drawing have opened up significantly through the use of different materials, techniques and image media, and the artistic approaches of this year’s scholarship holders are correspondingly multifaceted, ranging from classic pencil drawings on paper, animation, illustration and video to sound works, performance, sculpture and installation.
