Constanze Witt

Constanze Witt is a German artist and filmmaker with roots in Latin America, Southern Europe and the Middle East. Her work traverses various media such as drawing, text and moving image. Her starting point is the autobiographical and subjective, which she develops further in long processes and moulds into something unforeseen and changeable. The ambivalence inherent in her themes – the myths of the “New World”, migration movements and their truths and identities – is at the heart of her work. In her own biography, which is characterised by migration, the positions of perpetrator and victim intermingle and ambiguity becomes a tool of insight.
