Jaleh Tannaz Tavassoli

Balmoral artist at risk 2026

Jaleh Tannaz Tavassoli ist eine Künstlerin und Autorin aus dem Iran. Die Verbindung zwischen Körper und Geist war für sie, wie sie selbst sagt, schon

Jaleh Tannaz Tavassoli is an artist and writer from Iran. The connection between body and mind has always been a central theme for her, as she herself says, particularly the female body within a misogynistic system that is hostile to life itself; Jaleh Tannaz Tavassoli is interested in how these bodies define themselves in a place where love, beauty, joy and happiness are not tolerated. Her primary inspiration is the transformative interplay of suffering, awareness, wisdom and courage among Iranian women. She views their development over the past 200 years as akin to the growth of plants in inhospitable environments. Both, she argues, are organic, dynamic, expansive and unstoppable. The artist is currently exploring how personal and collective experiences can be transformed into spaces of connection that reflect the fractal structures found in nature, which, unlike hierarchical vertical systems, are composed of feminine and expansive horizontal values. Jaleh Tannaz Tavassoli has found temporary refuge at Balmoral Castle, thanks to the current global political situation and the support of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate/ Stiftung Rheinland-Pfalz für Kultur.
