Jana Kerima Stolzer
Jana Kerima Stolzer (born 1989) is a freelance media artist based in Dortmund. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in photography at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen in 2015, before going on to complete her Master’s degree at the Münster Academy of Fine Arts under Aernout Mik in 2017. She has been working as part of a duo with Lex Rütten since 2016. After working as a curatorial assistant to Britta Peters, she was awarded a fellowship at the Academy for Theatre and Digitality in 2020. In 2023, the duo opened their first institutional solo exhibition at the HMKV in Dortmund. In 2025, the artist was awarded a project grant funded by the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and coordinated by the ARSB. Since 2016, Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten have been collaborating on stage-like multimedia installations that conceive of the technology-influenced living environment as a changing and formative component of the world. The duo applies the interaction between the environment and living beings not only to human beings, but equally to flora and fauna. Thus, the protagonists within their multimedia works are usually those entities that have no voice in reality: hybrid beings combining nature and technology, plants and animals, who convey their own view of the world in musical-like settings.
