Khathala Nkomo

ARSB Performer 2025

The renowned South African artist and choreographer Khathala Nkomo, currently a fellowship holder of the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems, gets people moving with rhythm, energy and body percussion. Khathala Nkomo is a Creative Facilitator, Performer and Theatre Maker. After completing her Diploma in Speech and Drama at UCT, she joined a three-year training program with the Jazzart and Phenduka Dance Company. She teaches Creative Arts in Schools and is the founder of the NPC Isegazini Arts Awareness, using the arts as a powerful and effective vehicle for inviting individuals to examine their own behavior and be a catalyst for promoting personal development and change.  She was one of the facilitators for the Sophiatown Arts Festival, collaborated with Sophiatown Arts Akademy for the dance workshop at Goethe Institute. As a performer and facilitator, she was further involved in Rausch Dance Project in Leipzig and ran Body Percussion Workshops in Berlin in 2023.  She recently was a Mentor- Facilitator at the Creative Arts Street Parade “Hey Hillbrow Let’s Dlala “ with the Market Theatre Foundation in collaboration with Windybrow Arts Center, working with the different NGOs around Jo’burg. Her journey with Isegazini Arts Awareness is brewed in the communities where she empowers, inspires and nurtures young people and the community at large.
