Yasmine Ben Salah
Yesmine Ben Salah, born in Tunis in 1998, is a film curator and documentarist. She studied philosophy and film studies. Her research and artistic practice mostly gravitates around the reuse of found imagery and materials, she is interested in subjects related to urban history, aesthetics and anecdotes, modern forms of bureaucracy and surveillance, and all sorts of essayistic practices. Subjects she would like to explore in the future are: socially acceptable addictions, and the way different cultures treat emotions and mental illness, contrasting this with globalized, profit-driven theories and analyses. Her master thesis centered on essay films that dissect family narratives impacted by displacement and political activism, employing found footage and archival practices. She enjoys street photography, creating collages, and translating film screenplays and subtitles.
