A festival of artistic positions on the theme of immersion
The fellows of 2024 on aesthetics and ambivalences of the immersive
You can immerse yourself in many different ways: in spaces of your own imagination, in virtual worlds or in real parallel societies. You can lose and find yourself in sounds, in literature, in series and even in other people. Immersion is an experience that has been familiar to us since time immemorial – and can be triggered by stimuli, narcotics, but also actions, dances and rituals. Sixteen positions, developed over the past year by international artists from the Balmoral Castle Artist Residency, deal with the theme of immersion: immersion, sinking, passing over. Our exhibition (with festival character) interweaves images, sound and shared experiences to create a ten-day round dance in the rustic Sayner Hütte in Bendorf.
The Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems is the artist residency of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Artists from all over the world and all genres work together on selected annual themes.
